Each of the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army carries his own memory box filled with facts of its battle plan, inlaid with rich human details, and the men of our army aspire for a more beautiful tomorrow. Some of them are martyrs, some of them planted part of his body in the land of the homeland, some of them were considered missing and some of them took his freedom from the harshness of terror to turn All of them to myths preserved in history.

The exploits of our soldiers in the war have been transformed into a literary documentary project about these sacrifices into literary creativity and a document for generations through the “War Code” issued by the Ministry of Culture to put their second child into the novel “When the Cactus Fights” by the fighter writer Engineer Ali Esber after the novel “The Day of the Martyrs Rise .. The Journey of Self To Self ”by Suhaila Al-Ajji, mother of the martyr Bunyan, one of the martyrs of the Al-Kindi hospital garrison in Aleppo

Esber's novel tells the stories of three heroes from the Syrian Arab Army, the first of which is the martyr captain Jaber Ali Asbar, who was at the forefront of defending the village of Kafr Nubl in Idlib and continued to fight the terrorist organizations until they ran out of ammunition and no news of him was heard until he announced his kidnapping in August 2011 and was looking forward to the end of the war and returning to His village and the establishment of his wedding with his fiancée, with whom he lived the love story of Samia.

The second of these heroes is the martyr, first lieutenant, Sharaf, the engineer Alaa Muhammad Abbas, who and his companions defended the central prison of Aleppo against the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra, to be martyred in February 2014, shortly before the prison was liberated, leaving behind a wife and a little girl.

And the last of these martyrs was First Lieutenant Sharaf, Engineer Yamen Ali Mahmoud, who was shot by an explosive sniper bullet in his stomach in Aleppo, to be martyred on its impact, leaving his parents and brothers with grief who were waiting for his return.

In a statement to Sana, the writer of the novel stated that it is a simple appreciation of the sacrifices of the righteous martyrs, specifically those he mentioned in his novel, pointing out that their stories are true and they are his friends, and he is fully aware of them and for literary necessity, he worked to collect the stories of their sacrifices in one novel.

Esper stressed the importance of celebrating the martyrs and reminding them of the pride they represent in the memory of generations, which marks the beginning of his project in documenting the stories of the martyrs and their families to reach the stage of being in direct contact with the families of the martyrs, the wounded and the missing, to raise their cases.

The novel “When the Cactus Fights” was saturated with human images, emotion filled with sadness and sincerity with feelings, to reach the reader to an integrated literary product that simulates the environments of the heroes of our army of stories between them and the feelings and attitudes going on with their families, where the writer Esper also works to transform his novel into a documentary film to be added to the creative production Who deals with the championships of the Sun Men.

The novel confirms that the heroes of the army who gathered from all parts of Syria left their civilian lives behind and went out to fight in defense of the homeland and mankind, making shops and dreaming of a more beautiful tomorrow, watching with the smile of every child and praying every mother so that Syria remains a chaste and generous woman.
