Parents' column: What the pandemic is doing to the children (and their parents)

2021-01-28T23:37:32.310Z

If you don't become like the children: How are the offspring now with almost a year of pandemic? Who is actually teaching whom, and why are we only now asking ourselves that?

What I have learned (again) this week: Powers, naming angles, simple present and exceptions in conjugation, what distinguishes archaeologists from paleontologists, demarcation between nestled and nestled, which repeats four cases (no, not the three question marks) studied the profile of an aardvark.

Markus Deggerich

, 51, is the patchwork dad of five children between the ages of 2 and 17.

He works part-time, hopes for a career in the kitchen and watches in amazement as his children and the best woman in the world answer life's big and small questions for him.

This is part of the knowledge that we dealt with at the school desk at home (besides the question of whether the school cloud is accessible this time).

I interpret it from under-rimmed eyes and with my own coiffed, shaved head, but also as a metaphor for almost a year of pandemic.

One of my more clearly visible characteristics as aardvark: mammal, nocturnal, carnivore, green-cream-colored skin, sparse hair, loner.

Our youngest, K5, will be three years old next month; he will then have spent around a third of his life under corona conditions.

It is far too early for corona chronicles and balances, I am convinced that we cannot yet foresee the consequences it will have for us and the world.

But I've already asked myself what it does to us, especially: it does to the children.
