The investigation into the beating of a 15-year-old schoolboy, Yuriy, in mid-January in Paris, led Thursday to the placement in police custody of ten young people, in particular for "

Eight minors and an adult were first arrested Thursday morning and placed in police custody "
on counts of attempted murder, criminal association with a view to committing a crime and theft in a meeting with violence

Several of the arrests took place in Vanves (Hauts-de-Seine), a city bordering the southwest of Paris, while the police are still interested in the trail of a fight between rival gangs.

The young teenager was taken to hospital in serious condition after being severely beaten by a gang of young people on the evening of January 15.
He was then with friends on the slab of Beaugrenelle, the converted roof of a shopping center in the 15th arrondissement, a wealthy district of the capital.
Several celebrities, including footballer Antoine Griezmann and actor Omar Sy, were moved by Yuriy's fate and gave him their support.
The Elysee had announced Sunday to have had "
an exchange
" with his mother, Nataliya K .. Wednesday, according to several media including

, Yuriy began to regain the use of speech.
On Instagram, his mother also shared several photos showing numerous letters of support wishing the teenager a speedy recovery, and gifts to cheer him up.

The broadcast on Friday evening of twenty seconds of images of the assault on social networks had caused a stir.
We see a dozen young people in sports clothes and hooded jackets kicking and beating, or sticks, on a person on the ground, before abandoning him.
The investigation examines, among other things, the track of an assault by a gang, and tries to establish the link between the various protagonists, explained a source close to the file.
According to several sources, the schoolboy “
had a screwdriver in his pocket
” during his attack, without being able to conclude from it a gang activity, the tool being able to constitute a simple self-defense equipment.
The boy was described by his college mates as "
nice, nice and the dynamic type
".
The staff of the establishment presented him as a "
good student

with a lot of humor
" and without any known membership in a gang of young people, notes AFP, even if the teenager had already been tested on la slab, and seems to be part of a group, in the broad sense, which met in Beaugrenelle.

Since 2016, this system has been accompanied by a local delinquency treatment group, bringing together the police, town halls and educational services under the aegis of the prosecution.
According to the authorities, these gang rivalries claimed the lives of six young people in 2017 and 2018. A total of 83 clashes were recorded in 2020 in the capital, against 159 in 2016, often involving minors.
