China will no longer recognize Hong Kong's British passports after being offered asylum
Beijing is furious at London's move to allow anyone holding the special documents a quick route to citizenship, in response to the city's autonomy division.
It is not clear if she will be able to know who holds the documents, which are only required when they arrive in the UK or other countries that sell them.

China announced today (Friday) that it will no longer recognize the special British passports of Hong Kong residents, in light of Britain's preparations to absorb millions more from its former colony after Beijing effectively abolished its autonomy.
In line with the UK government's promise to provide long-term asylum to Hong Kong residents, starting Sunday, those holding British overseas status, a legacy from British rule that ended in 1997, could apply to work and live in the kingdom for five years, eventually obtaining citizenship.
"I am very proud of the new path of the overseas residents in Hong Kong to housing, work and making our country their home," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement.
Until now, passport holders could visit the UK for half a year, but did not have the right to work or live there.

Beijing quickly attacked British change.
"As of January 31, China will no longer recognize what is known as the BNO passport as a travel document or identity card, and it reserves the right to take further action," a Foreign Ministry spokesman told reporters.
London has said it is acting in response to China's national security law passed last year, which put an end to freedoms promised to Hong Kong for at least 50 years under the 1997 agreement with Britain.
A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry said that Beijing believed that Britain had largely crossed the borders of the agreement, and therefore repealed it.
"Britain is trying to turn a large number of Hong Kong residents into second - class British citizens, thus completely changing the nature of the BNO," he said.

In practice, the implications of China's declaration are unclear, but it has since reached its threat to respond to Britain's extended visa offer through appropriate punitive measures.
Last year, China warned against revoking NBO recognition, so that those who hold these documents will not be able to enter mainland China with them.
However, it is not clear if the Chinese authorities know who is holding this document.
Hong Kong residents use the city's passports or IDs to get out of it.
In order to enter Chinese territory, they need their Hong Kong passport.
The only time they need to use BNO is when they arrive in the UK or another country that recognizes this document.
