The new Mobit app (Mobit)

About a month after the reform of public transportation payments, the use of multi-line increased by 20% compared to the period before the introduction of payment applications in public transportation, in light of the cheaper prices for its use in urban travel.

At this point, the fear of the Ministry of Transportation that the entry of the applications would discriminate against the users of Rabbi Kav was dispelled.

Validity is the identification of a trip with the means of payment.

According to data from the Ministry of Transportation, since the apps went into operation about a month ago, 275,000 validations have been recorded in the four apps for payment in public transportation in the last month.

These are multi-pass hop-on, anyway, Mobit and the station.

While the first three are operated by private companies, the station is the official app of the Ministry of Transport.

However, it is important to remember that these numbers are very low compared to those of multi-line attacks, which stand at an average of one and a half million attacks per day in December - before the closure enters.

Of the four apps, the hop-on multi-pass has the highest number of attacks - 125,000 uses.

In this way, it accounts for about 45% of the scope of use.

According to the company's data, 70% of users use a calculator built into it, which shows them the cost of travel using the app compared to using a multi-line card.

Of those users, 80% preferred to use multi-line due to the cheaper price.

The places where the gaps are recorded in favor of Rabbi Kav are in urban travel.

Thus, in Gush Dan, within a range of 15 km (the new calculation method produces a structure of payments according to the "radius" of travel depending on the passenger's location, NIS).

In Netivot, a trip on the multi-line will cost NIS 1.92, compared to NIS 3 in apps.

On the other hand, when it comes to long-distance travel between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, using the app will cost NIS 344, compared to NIS 540, using a free monthly route on the multi-line.

The new reform of the means of payment for public transportation in Israel was launched last month, more than a year after the closing of the tender and the announcement of the project.

As part of the reform, four new payment apps were made available to the public, thus aligning the state with advanced public transportation systems in the United States and Europe.
