Chaos is raging in Lebanon again.

Near midnight the city hall in the city of Tripoli went up in flames after being set on fire by protesters.

At the same time, one of the participants in the protest was killed in clashes with security forces over the curfew imposed due to the corona plague and the collapsing economy.

Protesters in Lebanon set fire to the city hall in Tripoli

According to the local hospital, city residents and a security source quoted by the Reuters news agency, 30-year-old Omar Taibe was hit by a bullet that led to his death.

Today dozens of people marched on his funeral procession.

Lebanese media reported firing live ammunition by security forces after hundreds of protesters tried to break into the city hall building.

The protesters even tried to rip off the gate of the compound and threw Molotov cocktails.

During the clashes, police used means to disperse demonstrations, including tear gas.

This is the fourth night in a row that the Lebanese are taking to the streets of Tripoli.

This follows a curfew imposed by the caretaker government to halt the spread of the corona plague.

To date, the virus has killed more than 2,500 patients in the country.

Saad al-Hariri, who was appointed to form the government a few months ago, sharply attacked the protesters in Tripoli.

"What happened tonight in the city of Tripoli is an organized crime," Hariri said, "Why did the Lebanese army companies stand by and watch the burning of the city hall and facilities?"
