A strange sense of urgency animates Gérald Darmanin, who no longer hides his desire to dissolve Generation Identity, this movement specializing in media outbursts, and which was still talking about him, recently, by trying to symbolically block the border with illegal immigrants, or at least reveal to public opinion that it is a sieve.
We can certainly be sorry for his vision of French and European identity and criticize it more than severely.
We can also warn against the type of activism he favors.
However, justice has held nothing against its activists.
And it is difficult to see by what mental contortion one can turn it into a factious movement, unless it is judged guilty of ideological outrage, which is perhaps only a new form of blasphemy.
In a democracy, we do not arbitrarily ask for the abolition of a movement simply because its ideas revolt us.
