Omega Dubai Desert Classic: Alex Levy saves the tricolor honor

2021-01-29T15:25:38.363Z

Thanks to an excellent 68 (-4) posted this Friday on the Emirates Golf Club, Alexander Levy is in ambush on the leaderboard, in 12th place at -6. Four points behind the Belgian Thomas Detry, the only leader at -10. Antoine Rozner and Benjamin Hébert also cross the cut.

What if 2021 coincides with the big comeback of Alexander Levy to the fore?

The Varois, in full doubt at the end of the 2019 season (125th in the Race) with only seven cuts made in twenty-three starts, still in the hard last year (131st in the Race, positive for the Covid-19 in August), does indeed seem to return to its best level.

A trend seen last fall with two top 10s recorded (7th on November 8 in Cyprus, 6th at the Dunhill Championship two weeks later) and a much more conquering attitude.

The French Golf Federation anticipates

A clearly positive spiral which is confirmed at the start of the 2021 season with an encouraging 25th place in Abu Dhabi a few days ago for the recovery and especially this twelfth place after two laps at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic thanks to two cards of 70 and 68. At -6 (138), he is only four lengths behind the leader, the Belgian Thomas Detry, very solid in this start of the tournament with two identical cards of 67 (-5) without the slightest conceded bogey. ...

“I think I played very well, analysis at the microphone of the European Tour the five-time winner on the European Tour.

When things were going less well, I managed to do the round back while doing pars.

I did not put myself in danger.

These are two great days, very solid, especially in the attitude and in the process.

I must stay on this dynamic.

I think my game has been good since the end of the 2020 season, I have a good job to do in terms of attitude and mind… This is what I've been trying to put in place since the start of the season .

So far, it's working pretty well.

On the greens right now I have two different grips.

At less than 3.50 meters, I use the Arm-lock (the grip used in particular by Matt Kuchar) and beyond, I use a normal grip.

I've been adopting this for a little while and I'm starting to find a good compromise.

It's up to me to continue like this.

Langasque unscrews and misses the cut

There will be two other tricolor golfers this weekend in the Emirates.

First Antoine Rozner, who shared the first two rounds with European team captain Ryder, Ireland's Padraig Harrington, sits twenty-seventh at -3 (141) with two cards of 70 and 71. Benjamin Hébert, next, who appears in the total par (144) in 54th place.

In the cut of this 32nd edition of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Best French the day before (9th to -4), Romain Langasque on the other hand completely unscrewed with a terrible 79 (+7) which prevents him from being there this weekend.

The Azure, in great difficulty on the greens but also in his faceoffs, lost 80 places compared to Thursday evening.

It's also over for Victor Dubuisson and Victor Perez (72nd to +1), for Julien Guerrier (89th to +3), for Matthieu Pavon (101st to +4) and for Mike Lorenzo-Vera and Raphaël Jacquelin (122nd to + 8).

Leader, as we have said, at -10 (134), the Belgian Thomas Detry, still looking for his first victory on the European Tour, is one point ahead of the Scottish Robert MacIntyre and two on a trio composed by the South African Justin Harding, the Finnish Kalle Samooja and the Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, 19th in the world.

Unlike Romain Langasque, Tyrrell Hatton, world No. 5, unrecognizable Thursday with his inaugural 76 (+4), managed a second round of anthology, slamming the card of the day (64) and above all gaining 92 places to the leaderboard.

The Englishman, winner of the first Rolex Series of the season last Sunday, is in 23rd position at -4 (140).

Six blows to the head.

And there are still 36 holes to negotiate!
