Visiting the department, the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, promised several state aid. The mayors of Grigny and Corbeil-Essonne

It is surrounded by no less than six ministers that Jean Castex went this Friday morning to Grigny (Essonne) to make announcements in favor of priority neighborhoods.

We asked some of the mayors involved what and what they think these announcements will actually change in their city.

Suburbs: the government promises to invest 3.3 billion euros

Starting with Philippe Rio (PCF), mayor of Grigny, a town where the poverty rate is close to 50%.

On the urban planning side, the elected official notes that Anru (National Agency for Urban Renovation) "will have additional funding of 2 billion euros, which will better finance the renewal of the Grande-Borne, and multicultural equipment downtown.

, we were heard.

There was a lack of money on emergency work and the owners could not save the money.

"

The mayor also wishes to take advantage of these announcements to buy a gynecological x-ray for the Grande-Borne health center and strengthen the point of access to law.

He also hopes to secure funding for the creation of a new gymnasium within two years and request an extension of the swimming pool.

“Before, there was no money to finance all this, now there are 36 million euros.

We will apply.

Another announcement, the increase in the number of assisted contracts and "150 additional young people who will be able to benefit from the Youth Guarantee".

If all this is obviously good to take, the elected official agrees that the basic problem of poverty of the populations living in these districts remains, despite the accumulation of plans and various measures announced for decades.

“We must tackle poverty, that's where the shoe pinches,” blows Philippe Rio.

"The account is not there", for the mayor of Corbeil

In Corbeil-Essonnes, Bruno Piriou (DVG) learned that the educational city system, from which the Tarterêts district benefits, will be extended to three other districts: La Nacelle, Rive-Droite and Montconseil.

This means additional funds to strengthen educational support during school and extracurricular time.

"It is a file that we have defended and I am happy to have obtained it", smiles the mayor.

The latter also hopes to obtain an additional gymnasium in Tarterêts, recalling that despite its demographic growth, no gymnasium has been built in Corbeil for twenty-five years.

But for the latter, “the account is not there.

What I feel on the ground is social misery.

People can't do it.

People want a decent salary to live with dignity.

And 1200 euros is not enough.

We must also revive the job machine.

The problem is not with the neighborhoods.

The Tarterets worked well thirty years ago when everyone had a job.

It is not a question of asking for a percentage of the recovery plan to solve the problem of neighborhoods.

We need new public policies, higher wages, training.

And there is money.

The rich have never been so rich.

On the ground, Ali Gattoufi, of the Entraide et Solidarité association, wonders.

“Every year, we hear the same thing.

The politicians come to the neighborhoods, make announcements.

But people are still in dire straits.

We have more and more families going to collect food packages.

The students too, for two or three years, have been struggling.

The associations are overwhelmed.

Where is this money going?

Why is there so much poverty in these priority neighborhoods?
