The Jerusalem District Court today (Friday) froze the Ministry of the Interior's food voucher distribution project following a petition by the Pethon Lev organization.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the distribution of the coupons was supposed to start this coming Sunday.

According to the plan, which will be budgeted at NIS 700 million, those entitled will receive food stamps in order to purchase essential products at the points of sale of the Shufersal company that won the tender.

Local authorities will assist in determining the list of those eligible, including recipients of a property tax rebate of more than 70% according to an income test and senior citizens receiving an income support benefit.

Shufersal won the tender, but Pethon Lev claimed in the petition that there were defects and defects in the tender.

Judge Eli Abarbanel ruled that until the verdict in the petition, the tender could not be executed.

Pethon Lev CEO Eli Cohen said following the decision that "after many efforts on our part to reach a compromise agreement, which aims to provide quick, professional and effective assistance to aid seekers across the country - we encountered unfortunate refusal on the part of the authorities and had to close the hearing."

The courageous decision for the restraining order for the tender means that problems in the conduct and documents were indeed identified and that the Shufersal chain did not act as required with the Ministry of the Interior.

I sincerely hope that justice will be served and that it will be possible to carry out the tender in the best possible training. "The

Ministry of the Interior stated that the ministry" will act in accordance with the court's ruling.

All that remains, however, is to regret the freezing of aid and the distribution of food cards to the most vulnerable families in Israeli society.

It is unfortunate that the petitioner, who caused the issuance of the restraining order, claims to be an association that helps these families and is now causing the greatest damage to the needy families.

"Action must be taken quickly and without delay to help these families with basic food, families for whom the corona is an ongoing economic nightmare and a day-to-day survival campaign."
