Since this year, the people of Taufkirchen have been paying more for waste disposal.

The local council decided to increase the fees.

They rose by an average of 24 percent:

Taufkirchen

- In future, you will pay 139.80 euros for the 60-liter bin instead of the previous 112.32 per year, for 80 liters of 186.48 euros (previously 149.76 euros) and for 120 liters of 279.72 euros (previously 224 , 64 euros).

Waste fees had not been increased for a long time.

But from 2016 to 2019 the bill no longer worked, the fees were no longer enough to cover the costs.

The gap could only be closed through the surpluses that had been generated in previous years.

But by the end of 2019 all reserves were used up.

Together with the Bavarian Municipal Auditing Association, the municipality has now recalculated the fees for the period from 2020 to 2023.

In principle, the following applies: Waste disposal - a compulsory task of the municipality - must neither generate profits nor losses.

Price increase in the logistics area

According to the municipality, the reason for the increase in costs is the price increases in the logistics sector, in the disposal of waste and the treatment of recyclable materials.

In addition, the proceeds from the marketing of recyclable materials fell dramatically in some cases.

The district awards services in the context of public tenders, in which the most economical bidder is awarded the contract.

The results of the tender for logistics services such as the transport of waste and recyclable materials from recycling yards, green waste sites to recycling plants or emptying of waste, organic and paper bins have resulted in higher prices this time, as the service providers have taken cost increases into account in their offers.

Still cheap throughout Bavaria

In a Bavaria-wide comparison, however, the municipality is in good shape: On average, the waste fees in Bavaria for a model household (four people with the smallest permitted container for residual waste) would be 165.40 euros per year.

At its peak, they rose to between 240 and 340 euros.
