The volleyball Bundesliga has seldom been as exciting as it was this season.

At the top of the table, VfB Friedrichshafen is now lonely, but: The Berlin Recycling Volleys and the Powervolleys Düren are dueling for the podium, and behind them a real six-way battle for the remaining five playoff places has broken out.

Herrsching

- Between the table fourth Helios Grizzlys Giesen (20 points) and the ninth Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen (18) there are just two points.

The WWK Volleys Herrsching are in seventh place with 19 points.

On Saturday, 7 p.m. (live on sporttotal.tv), the people of Ammerse received the Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen-Bestensee in the local Nikolaushalle.

In the opponent analysis, Max Hauser had to look at the unluckily lost cup semi-final several times.

“That already hurt.

We had a lot of chances, but also a lot of bad luck, ”says the Herrschinger coach, a little wistfully.

Almost six weeks ago, the Ammersee lost a seemingly comfortable 2-0 lead and lost 2: 3, giving away seven match points.

In the league, the WWK volleys had won 3-2 against the Brandenburgers four weeks earlier.

This time too, Hauser expects a close duel.

“KW is a very uncomfortable team to play.

You serve very well and are also strong in the block.

In addition, they have an outstanding player (Byron Kenturakis, editor's note) who can pose big problems the table went down a bit.

At least the point achieved in Lüneburg has shown that the team's morale is intact.

The Hauser crew still has playoff qualification in their own hands.

In the coming weeks it will still be against the direct rivals from Bühl and Giesen, against the backbenchers VCO Berlin and Unterhaching and against the top teams Berlin Recycling Volleys and Düren.

Hauser is not worried about missing the playoffs.

"Worries don't get you anywhere."

We want to win and return the favor for the cup defeat.

Iven Fietje Ferch

Iven Fietje Ferch is someone who is particularly looking forward to the game against Netzhoppers.

The middle blocker played for the Netzhoppers from 2016 to 2019.

“I still have a lot of friends there.” This friendship has to rest on Saturday for at least three and a maximum of five sentences.

"We want to win and take revenge for the cup defeat." But Ferch also knows: "It will be a game on equal terms."

Behind Luuc van der Ent and Dorde Ilic, Ferch, who was born in Erlangen, is currently only number three in the middle block, but regularly gets his playing times.

At the WWK Volleys Herrsching, the longest actor at 2.08 meters should be carefully built up.

After suffering cartilage damage in his knee three years ago, the 23-year-old was almost about to end his career, but Ferch has fought his way back.

"It feels stronger than ever before," says Ferch about his former problem knee.

After completely missing out on the 2017/2018 season, it was used again in the 2018/2019 season.

But not as often as hoped.

After graduating from high school in Berlin, he also wanted to return to Bavaria.

Contact to Max Hauser came about through Herrsching's captain Johannes Tille, with whom Ferch played in the youth division of TSV Mühldorf and also won three German championship titles there.

But since the three middle blocker positions were already taken, he was awarded to the third division TSV Mühldorf.

Ferch trained at the WWK volleys from Monday to Thursday, then on Friday in Mühldorf, where he also played on the weekend.

At his youth club Ferch finally had a large share in winning the third division championship.

Coach Max Hauser described the loan to Mühldorf as a “win-win situation”.

In the summer of 2020, I finally moved to the Ammersee.

The 23-year-old has big goals, not just with the WWK Volleys Herrsching.

“I want to be a national player.” In the youth division, he already wore the eagle on his chest.

His long-time friend and current flat-share partner in Herrsching Johannes Tille, who has been a national player himself since last year, definitely trusts him to do that (“He's got it physically”).

And if the big career doesn't turn out, Ferch has a plan B. Last summer, the 23-year-old began studying primary school teachers at the LMU in Munich.
