The opposition attacks Andreas Scheuer in the toll affair for not having submitted all the documents. Due to a ruling by the Federal Court of Justice, the committee can now request the release of so-called log files.

The opposition at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) achieved success in dealing with the failed car toll.

An investigating judge granted a request from the FDP, Left and Greens, according to which log files, so-called log files, official mailboxes of Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuers (CSU) could be evaluated.

The decision states that the committee of inquiry must collect evidence by asking the President of the Bundestag to present these log files.

The decision was made before the German Press Agency.

This means that the minister's correspondence with his state secretaries and department heads can be checked for completeness, said the chairman of the FDP in the committee of inquiry, Christian Jung.

The opposition groups suspect that Scheuer did not present relevant communication about the failed car toll via mailboxes.

Conclusions can be drawn from the log files about the type, frequency, duration and participants of mail traffic.

Scheuer should not have submitted all the documents

“We still assume that Andreas Scheuer did not present all the documents to the committee despite all the statements.” If the analysis of the log files reveals inconsistencies, it is conceivable “that further witnesses will have to be summoned and the final report of the investigative committee will not be available until later in September Can be published in 2021 «.

Scheuer had only been the last planned witness in the investigative committee to reject allegations by the opposition on Thursday.

He emphasized several times that he had acted "to the best of his knowledge and belief."

He understands resentment about the project, "but the fact is that we acted rightly."

Allocation and budget law were complied with, said Scheuer.

The opposition, however, accuses him of violations in this area and repeatedly asked him to resign.

The German model for a car toll failed in the summer of 2019 before the European Court of Justice.

Among other things, the opposition accuses Scheuer of having concluded contracts before there was legal certainty.

The proposed operators are demanding 560 million euros in damages after the federal government terminated the contracts immediately after the judgment.
