Reports of air strikes warning alarms were heard in various areas in and around Tehran, according to videos shared on social media in Iran last night (Friday).
According to reports, alarms were sounding across the city for several minutes.
Following reports of alarms in the city, a Turkish Airlines flight arriving from Istanbul to Tehran flew in circles around the capital and in light of instructions given to the pilot not to land in the area due to security concerns, changed the flight route to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
"The Turkish Airlines plane has changed its route to Baku due to weather conditions and will return to Tehran upon arrival," Imran Khomeini International Airport said in Tehran.

The deputy governor for security affairs in Tehran said tonight that the alarms heard earlier across the city were not related to any security problem, and it was caused by a technical malfunction in the alarm system in the Azmayish area near the city.
"There are no security issues and people do not have to worry," the deputy governor claimed.
The director general of the Tehran Crisis Management Organization told state television that the alarms sounded in the capital were apparently triggered due to a leak caused by heavy rains that were in the area.
