An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale today struck the Republic of Guyana on the northern coast of South America, but no injuries were reported.
Reuters quoted the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying that the earthquake occurred at a depth of ten kilometers under the sea floor.
There was no warning of a possible tsunami.
