Former Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek renewed his criticism of the authoritarian policies pursued by the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, towards his opponents, especially the former president of the HDP, Salahuddin Demirtaş, who has been detained since November 9, 2016.

Cicek stressed the need to adhere to the decisions of the European Court, rejecting the attempts of some circles to dissolve the HDP, while criticizing Erdogan's appointment of close associates to him in higher judicial positions, especially in the Istanbul Public Prosecution Office.
The European Court of Human Rights has previously confirmed that Erdogan's regime violated freedom of expression as a result of his conviction Demirtaş on criminal charges for his opposition to the regime's policies.
Demirtaş previously headed the HDP and was imprisoned in November 2016 after being accused by the Erdogan regime of leading a terrorist organization.
