Haute-Loire: a sexagenarian dies in a neighborhood conflict

A 62-year-old man died on Saturday evening during an altercation with one of his alcoholic neighbors, in Chambon-sur-Lignon (Haute-Loire).

The suspect, a 45-year-old man whose apartment is located above that of the victim, went himself to confide in the inhabitants of this commune of Yssingelais who notified the emergency services.

The latter, however, failed to revive the sixty-year-old, who died in his apartment from his injuries.

According to the first elements of the gendarmerie investigation, which will have to be confirmed by the autopsy which will be carried out on Monday at the Forensic Institute of Saint-Étienne, the death could be consecutive to a head trauma.

Sunday evening, the Puy-en-Velay prosecutor's office decided to extend the custody of the alleged murderer, who will be presented on Monday to the criminal department of the Clermont-Ferrand prosecutor's office, with a view to opening a judicial investigation for intentional homicide. The Haute-Loire prosecutor's office indicates that the fatal injuries "

were not caused by the use of a weapon"

, but he did not wish to specify the reasons for the altercation, nor the precise circumstances of the death. The suspect, who could not be heard during the first hours of his custody, was reportedly alcoholic.
