Towards an achievement for Jewish settlement in Jerusalem?

According to Netanyahu's associates, the prime minister will be ready to advance the approval procedures for the new Jewish neighborhood in Atarot in north Jerusalem, as has been demanded of him by the ideological right in recent months, Israel Today has learned.

The agreement will come "in return" for the unification of political forces on the ideological right, in the form of a joint run in the upcoming elections of "religious Zionism" led by Smutrich, alongside the Jewish House, as well as the signing of Jewish power and noam on a joint run, yesterday (more on this in the main article).

It should be noted that Netanyahu's entourage fears that if Smutrich and the Jewish House on the one hand and Jewish power and Noam on the other - run separately, there is a danger that both will not pass the blocking percentage, a matter that will make it very difficult for Netanyahu to form a coalition.

The apparent willingness to promote a neighborhood in Atarot as a "political transformation" came after President Trump's late tenure in the outgoing Washington administration refused to authorize Netanyahu to advance the plan, despite Netanyahu's explicit request to do so.

Atarot, located in the "northern finger" of Jerusalem, across the "Green Line" and beyond the separation fence, is mentioned in the outgoing president's plan of the century as an area where the Palestinians will have their own tourist area.

The new Jewish neighborhood in Atarot was designed by the Ministry of Housing, and is intended for about 9,000 housing units.

If approved, it will be built mostly on the territory of the old Atarot airport, which was shut down during the second intifada.
