In the village where Faustine Nogherotto grew up, the inhabitants were "in shock" this Sunday afternoon, after learning of the death

This “little blond finch”, Marie-Annick remembers it well.

In front of her wide open gate, on this rainy Sunday, this former Atsem tells of a "adorable kid", a little "blonde with blue eyes", who never stopped singing.

“Already in kindergarten, Faustine loved it, she had it in her blood,” she breathes.

And to add, his voice extinguished: “There is no word for what happened to him.

We're still in shock.

Very quickly this weekend, the sad news of the death of Faustine Nogherotto on Friday spread to Velennes, a small village of 240 inhabitants in which she grew up, arousing strong emotions.

For years, the 31-year-old singer suffered from an incurable autoimmune disease.

Her death was announced on Saturday on the social network Facebook by her sister: “Life is unfair, my sister had everything for her: beauty, kindness and purity in her voice.

She was in so much pain… Now she is at peace ”.

A few houses further from that of Marie-Annick, Marie-Thérèse also confides her sadness: "I think a lot about parents, I sympathize with their pain".

Posters everywhere in the shops

“We knew her as a baby.

She was a very sweet, very kind, very pretty girl, ”blows a couple of retired neighbors.

They had gotten into the habit of hearing him sing when they were in the garden.

With one hand, points to a house next door: "Look, his window overlooked our house."

Their two faces light up when they evoke "the star singer of Venelles".

And to regret, like so many others: "She left too early ..."

But long before the TV shows, it was in Velennes that she had given her first concerts, on the occasion of the town's Christmas show.

“She was the only one who did not sing in playback, her school friends had to face it,” assures Jean-Paul, 62, who was in charge of the sound system at the time.

In the end, the locals asked for her to start again.

»He insists:« I was blown away, a little kid like her age who sang so well… It's sad for this little one.

An autoimmune disease with no known treatment

But her dreams were shattered right after her 21st birthday.

After numerous examinations following mononucleosis, the artist discovered that she was suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.

An affection forcing her to a strict diet and physiotherapy sessions.

In 2013, another twist of fate, Faustine was also diagnosed positive for Gougerot-Sjögren syndrome, an autoimmune disease for which there is no known treatment.

In an interview with Le Parisien, August 18, 2015, the young woman spoke of her sad daily life.

“First of all, it's extreme fatigue, my body is without energy all the time.

I already know that when I'm done talking to you I'll be out of breath.

They are also muscle pain.

I cannot go down the stairs without shaking, sometimes the simple act of holding a glass is unbearable […] The fight is very difficult to wage.

I want to tell researchers: Get moving because I don't know how to hold on, and the future scares me.
