Thousands of people are attending tonight (Sunday) the funeral of a member of the Council of Torah Scholars of the Degel HaTorah faction, Rabbi Yitzchak Shiner, which is taking place in Jerusalem in violation of the Corona's guidelines.
The funeral takes place on Ezekiel Street in the city.
Shiner, who served as head of the Kaminetz Yeshiva in the city, passed away earlier today at the age of 98. About two weeks ago, Rabbi Shiner contracted corona, since his condition deteriorated, and at noon he was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where he died.
Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, one of the leaders of the ultra-Orthodox Lithuanian sect, announced that he would set a personal example tonight and not attend Shiner's funeral.
A statement from his home said the decision was "despite the deep friendship between the two and the family connection (in-laws) and will speed up from his home in Bnei Brak over the phone."
About a month ago, Rabbi Shiner published a public letter in which he wrote that one should "be careful to attend crowded gathering places."

Earlier today, thousands of people attended the funeral of Rosh Yeshivat Brisk, Rabbi Meshulam David Soloveitchik, which also took place in Jerusalem.
The funeral procession was conducted at a high density, and many of the participants did not wear masks.
Around 4 p.m., police forces were instructed to begin dispersing the crowd, an action that led to violent clashes between those present and police officers who enforced the regulations.
The cops were documented pushing the participants on top of each other and knocking them to the ground, and began to move away from riots.

The political system has sharply criticized the lack of enforcement during Soloveitchik's huge funeral.
Blue-and-white chairman and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said "this is what unequal enforcement looks like: Millions of families and children are locked in their homes and abide by the rules while thousands of ultra-Orthodox crowds at funerals, most without masks."
Deputy Health Minister Yoav Kish (Likud) "The funeral will unfortunately lead to more funerals." He said the event was "very bad in every way."
The public's treatment of the restrictions is poor and the police's ability to enforce is poor.
