More than three million Israelis have so far been vaccinated against the corona virus, the Ministry of Health announced this morning (Sunday).

Among the vaccinated, 1.729 million also received the second vaccine dose.

Over the weekend, 178,000 people were vaccinated.

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein welcomed the number of vaccinated, about a third of the country's citizens.



At the same time, the Ministry of Health updated this morning that 2,596 people have been diagnosed in Corona in the past day.

This increased the number of patients verified in Israel to 640,644.

Yesterday, results were obtained for 26,817 tests, with the percentage of positive for the virus being 10%.

The test data and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates from the Ministry of Health.



The number of active patients is 72,026.

1,814 patients are hospitalized, of whom 298 are respirators and 1,162 are seriously ill.

Currently, 4,745 people have died from the corona virus in Israel.



Yesterday, 6,434 people were diagnosed in Corona.

The number of tests was 71,710, of which 9.3% were positive for the virus.

In parallel with the continuation of the vaccination campaign, the government is expected to extend the closure for another week today.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Health will arrive at the cabinet meeting with encouraging data on the expected impact of vaccines on serious illness, which may reduce the burden on hospitals and bring forward the expectation of a return to routine.

On the other hand, they will also come with the infection data and the verified amount that does not decrease, with the British mutation in the background that it is not yet clear whether it causes faster infections or whether it is also more lethal.
