Tonight (Monday) at midnight, the draft law, which regulates the non-recruitment of most ultra-Orthodox to the IDF, is due to expire. The court ruled that the repeal would take effect a year later, in 2018, to give the government and the Knesset time to enact a new law.

Despite this, the government repeatedly asked the court for extensions, until last November the judges announced that the law would expire on February 1, signaling that they would not grant another extension.
