Barack Obama: "I was surprised by the scenes from the Capitol"

Former US President and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Barack Obama has criticized the behavior of the security forces in front of the Capitol.
The police were apparently less concerned with Trump supporters than with demonstrators who demonstrate for blacks' rights, Obama said in a ZDF interview with Claus Kleber for the “heute-Journal”.
When asked if he was surprised when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, he said: Yes, but he was much more surprised at how the police acted compared to the "Black Lives Matter" protests: "Me were especially surprised by the scenes from the Capitol.
I could hardly believe that the Capitol Police and our security forces couldn't foresee this storm.
The authorities were far more concerned and better prepared than the peaceful demonstrators during the Black Lives Matter protests, ”said Obama.
Militant supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol on January 6th.
Trump is accused of inciting his supporters at a previous rally.
Five people were killed in the riots.
After his supporters storm the Capitol, Trump becomes the first US president in history to face a second impeachment trial.
The security authorities were criticized after the violent protest.
Because of possible links to right-wing extremists, the National Guard was screened before the inauguration of the new US President Joe Biden, and twelve soldiers were suspended from duty.
According to a report in the New York Times, the Pentagon wants to intensify its fight against right-wing extremists and supporters of the "White Supremacy" movement within its own ranks.
