In the event of an unauthorized protest against Corona measures, several people were reported on Sunday in Vienna.

According to the police, around 5,000 people met for a "corona walk" in the Austrian capital despite a ban on such rallies.

The mood has become increasingly aggressive, reported observers on site.

Among the participants were well-known representatives of the right-wing scene, including identities around Martin Sellner and the convicted neo-Nazi Gottfried Küssel, as reported by the Austrian news agency APA.

Because many participants did not wear masks or did not keep the prescribed distance to avoid corona infections, the police announced the dissolution of the meeting on Twitter.

When participants moved towards parliament and failed to respond to calls to disperse, the police intervened.

She recorded personal details and showed people how she wrote on Twitter.

The police had rejected requests for several demonstrations planned for this Sunday with up to 15,000 participants in Vienna on Friday.

According to previous experience, it was to be feared that mandatory hygiene rules such as maintaining the minimum distance and wearing mouth and nose protection would be disregarded.

Among other things, the parliamentary group leader of the right-wing FPÖ, Herbert Kickl, wanted to speak.

Kickl had called for prudence on Facebook on Saturday.

At the same time, however, he made the Minister of the Interior responsible for possible excesses.

Prohibiting demonstrations would provoke such consequences, he claimed.

Arrests in Brussels too

Corona protests were also violated in Brussels.

At least 200 people were arrested on Sunday in unauthorized demonstrations against the Belgian anti-corona measures.

"We are ending the demonstration outside the main station," said the Brussels police on Twitter.

All participants could leave if they were identified and there was no reason for arrest.

A police spokesman for the German press agency said there were also many football fans among those arrested.

The police were in large numbers after rioting in the neighboring Netherlands during protests against bans on going out.

In Belgium there has been a ban on going out at night for weeks without any acts of violence.
