(CNN) -
How fast could you eat a hot pepper?
What about three of the hottest chili peppers in the world?
Mike Jack, a man from London, Ontario, ate three Carolina Reaper chili peppers in 9.72 seconds, marking Guinness World Records the fastest time to eat three of those chilies, which Guinness says are the hottest in the world.
The video of Jack achieving the goal was posted on the Guinness Book of World Records Facebook page on Wednesday, but the official record date was November 21, 2020.
Guinness certified the Carolina Reaper as the world's hottest pepper in 2017. Guinness says that chili peppers produce an average of 1.5 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
The SHU scale to measure the heat of chili was developed by the American chemist Wilbur Scoville in 1912.
The average jalapeño scores between 2,500 and 8,000 SHU, according to Guinness.

Quinoa breaks a new Guinness record
Jack is familiar with world records because he has previously set three of them, all for consuming hot peppers, according to Guinness.
He broke his first record in January 2019, when he achieved the fastest time to eat three Bhut Jolokia peppers.
He ate the hot peppers in 9.75 seconds.
His second record is for the most Bhut Jolokia chili peppers consumed in one minute, which he achieved on March 2, 2019 by eating 97 grams.
He followed that up when he broke the record for the most Bhut Jolokia peppers eaten in two minutes, on February 29, 2020.
The Bhut Jolokia chili registers a little over 800,000 SHU, strong enough for the Indian Army to use it as an ingredient in a hand grenade used to immobilize adversaries, according to Guinness.
