The Exceptions Committee for the Entry of Israelis into Israel during the closure period held its first meeting today (Monday) with the participation of representatives from the various government ministries.
The committee, headed by Minister Yuval Steinitz, has formulated a list of criteria that will enable the issuance of exceptional entry permits to Israeli residents and citizens during the air closure.
As of the current government decision, Ben Gurion Airport will be closed until next Sunday.
The cases in which a flight to Israel will be allowed:
1. For the purposes of essential medical care that does not suffer a delay (for the applicant or the dependent minor) according to the presentation of a summons from a medical institution
2. The funeral of a first-degree family member
3. In cases of accident or sudden injury of a first-degree relative who is hospitalized in a medical institution in Israel, in accordance with the presentation of documents
4. Work of an essential worker in the system essential for the functioning of the state, and provided that it cannot be postponed or carried out remotely
5. Return to the Land of Government Delegations
6. The Committee may consider additional cases which are related to criteria 1, 2 and 3 and which are similar in terms of their essence, urgency and severity from a humanitarian point of view.
