Thanks to Peace:
Jared Kushner, who until recently served as a senior adviser to President Trump, and Avi Berkowitz, the special envoy who replaced Jason Greenblatt, have been named Nobel Peace Prize nominees.
The two were declared candidates for their work and role in negotiations that led to four peace and normalization agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
The person who nominated Kushner and Berkowitz as candidates for the coveted award is the well-known lawyer and law professor at Howard University, Alan Dershowitz.
Dershowitz, who is known to have good relations with former President Donald Trump and even represented him in the first impeachment trial, sent a letter to the Nobel Prize Committee in which he also mentioned the work of former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Drummer.
"The Nobel Peace Prize is not for popularity," Prof. Dershowitz wrote in his letter, adding: "It is also not an assessment of what the international community might think of those who helped bring peace. It is an award given for meeting the frightening criteria set by Alfred Noble in his will."
Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump and senior administration adviser who took a significant part in the founding of the Abrahamic Accords, said it was a great honor for him to be nominated for the award to be given in October.
