For the Minister of the Interior, the revelations of Mediapart are not a surprise. “When you're in politics, you have to expect these kinds of attacks,” he said.

He denounces a "

calumny

".

Invited on France Inter this Monday, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, spoke about the revelations of Mediapart concerning the judicial information for rape which targets him.

"

The absolute (and) total violation of the secrecy of instruction, obviously, no longer surprises anyone,

" declared the elected official from Tourcoing (Hauts-de-France) in the preamble.

Before recalling: “

There were four favorable decisions in a row that were given to me.

This calumny and this ignominy continues under obviously absolutely obscene conditions.

"

"Extremely low attacks"

Closed and then relaunched in June 2020, the judicial information concerns facts that occurred in 2009. Gérald Darmanin, then UMP legal advisor, is accused by Sophie Patterson-Spatz, a former party activist, of having abused of his power to obtain sexual favors.

On December 14, the tenant of Beauvau - who maintains that the relationship was granted - himself asked to be heard once again by the judges.

He has since been placed under the status of "assisted witness".

While the revelations of Mediapart could strike the line of defense established by the minister, the latter sees "

extremely low attacks

" due to his political status.

We prefer to make false leaks, because obviously all that is very largely arranged.

Other than disgust, I don't quite see what that inspires.

I wish everyone not to be slandered,

”he said.

And to conclude: "

I mean to what extent acts against women (...) are an evil which obviously eats away at our society, and I mean that slander also eats away at the honors of women and men.

I'll let the commentators comment, but I know that sometimes you have to be resistant.
