Basma Association for Supporting Children with Cancer launched its annual campaign to support children with cancer financially and morally through 28 methods, and it will continue during the month of February, the middle of which is the International Day of Cancer Children.

The campaign titled “Cancer is not a sign of support for Basma 2021” is part of a series of campaigns launched by the association in February of each year to increase interest in children with cancer and their care, highlight the issue of childhood cancer, raise awareness of it, and collect donations to support the association in order to continue providing its pharmaceutical services And curative free.

The campaign targets all segments of society and includes support methods, including buying an awareness ribbon for childhood cancer, buying specific products from companies and economic institutions that support the campaign, visiting shops supporting the campaign, or donating directly, among others.

Basma Association has been interested in children with cancer since 2006 by providing treatment and care for them, and until the end of 2020, it reached more than 8,400 children from different governorates, according to the association's executive director, Rima Salem.

Salem pointed out in a statement to SANA that the association continues to care for children with cancer according to the latest international standards of treatment in the Basma Specialized Unit at Al-Biruni University Hospital, which was expanded last March to become 34 internal and two intensive care beds and 15 external beds. The association also provides children with cancer patients with medicine other than Available in government hospitals, as well as for children registered with the association and receiving treatment through a private doctor in Damascus.

Basma launched a similar campaign in February 2020 under the title "My hope is in it, and you can be great ... Let the smile last."

Children cancer worldwide registers 300,000 new cases annually, according to the figures of the World Health Organization, which launched an initiative to raise the survival rate among them to 60 percent by 2030.
