Sweida-Sana
The cultivated areas of the lentil crop in Sweida to date have reached 2740 dunums, with an implementation rate of 32 percent of the plan amounting to 8,600 dunums.
The Director of Agriculture in Swaida, Eng. Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that the cultivated areas so far are considered good, and their increase will depend on rain in the coming days.
Hamed pointed out that the cultivation of lentils in the governorate is rainfed and is concentrated in the Shahba area and parts of the western region of Sweida, indicating that the crop cultivation plan for the current season has been increased than the previous one in order to encourage farmers due to its economic viability.
As-Suwayda Governorate produced 301 tons of lentils last season, within the cultivated areas amounting to 5160 dunums.
