The Covid-19 pandemic in the Latin America and Caribbean region has claimed more than 600,000 lives since the Corona virus began to spread to the world in December 2019, according to an AFP census published today.

According to the census, the number of officially registered deaths in the 34 countries of the region is a total of 601256 deaths out of 19057391 recorded injuries, making it the second region most affected by the pandemic in the world behind Europe.

Brazil and Mexico alone counted more than half of the deaths recorded in the entire region, as the number of virus victims in Brazil reached 226,309 people, and in Mexico 159,100 people.
