Never has business mediation been so much in demand as in 2020. Ten years after its creation in the wake of the 2008 crisis, this structure, which depends on the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, has been assailed with requests to manage disputes.

The spring and fall containments obviously marked peaks of activity.

Of the 9,615 requests recorded last year (compared to just over 2,000 in 2019), 3,540 resulted in free and confidential mediations.

70% were carried out successfully.

Requests mainly come from VSEs and SMEs with less than 25 employees, which represent more than 80% of the whole.

A dedicated team

A new kind of dispute arose with the pandemic: unpaid rents.

They represented more than 11% of mediation requests last year.

These disputes have also required the establishment of a dedicated team, which has been strengthened as the situation hardens.
