2021-02-03T18:31:53.721Z

The Banque Populaire sailor was ranked 12th and first woman on the round the world, which she discovered and completed with determination.

In the channel of Les Sables d'Olonne, against a background of "Born In The USA", it stirred red then blue smoke.

And shook the bottle of champagne with relish.

After 87 days 2 hours 24 minutes and 25 seconds of navigation, Clarisse Crémer finished her first Vendée Globe on Wednesday in 12th place.

The 31-year-old Francilienne cut the line with 6 days 22 hours 39 minutes and 39 seconds behind the winner, Yannick Bestaven.

A great performance for this round-the-world rookie who discovered ocean racing five years ago and her Banque Populaire X monohull, not fitted with foils less than two years ago.

She managed to be the first of six women to join Les Sables-d'Olonne after a Vendée Globe that she will have marked by her freshness and energy.

With her racing time, she also becomes the fastest sailor in history.

Hilarious on her arrival in Les Sables d'Olonne, the sparkling blonde confided her happiness to end after having embraced her large family: “I learned tons of tips, it makes you want to leave immediately on this boat. and later to try his luck again.

The first week I was a little confused and intimidated.

Obviously I suffered from my lack of experience.

And I discovered the beast.

In the end, it's nice to be comfortable and more up to your standards ”.

Clarisse Crémer, HEC graduate before diving into offshore racing through the Mini-Transat (2nd in the 2017 edition in the production boat category before embarking on the Figaro circuit with the Solitaire and the Transat AG2R ) then being recruited by Team Banque Populaire despite his inexperience, demonstrated during this first round the world his fierce desire to close the loop.

And if she "regretted not having fired" on her boat to preserve it, she confessed "to have drooled but less than others" victims of technical problems and to have suffered from "this sword of Damocles »Which, in the form of damage, could put an end to his Vendée Globe at any time.

"I am happy to finish it and to reach my goal but I had no problem with loneliness", confides the partner of Tanguy le Turquais, himself a navigator.

An excellent communicator, the native of the Ile-de-France region and daughter of the creator of the best rate.com site, she was very popular on the ground and (rightly) impressed the general public with her determination and authenticity.

Her video where she confessed to burning her private parts made the buzz like all the others during her three months of racing.

“I have not been very stable moral.

I cried with joy every day but not cried with sadness, she says.

In the Vendée Globe, in three months we have lived ten years of emotions ”.

Asked about finishing first woman in this Vendée Globe, Clarisse Crémer was not thrilled: “It's great, it's a little extra.

But ocean racing is a mixed sport without women's classification.

On the water I am a sailor and I do not see if the one in front is a man or a woman.

Jérémie Beyou (Charal) and Romain Attanasio (Pure-Best Western) are expected behind her on Saturday.

On the women's side, if Isabelle Joschke (MACSF) has retired and Samantha Davies continues her progression outside the rankings, Pipe Hare (Medallia), Miranda Merron (Campagne de France), Alexia Barrier (TSE- 4MyPlanet) are still in the race.
