It is a cry for help that Martin Graf gives in the form of an obituary.

His company, “Sauberland” textile cleaning in Weilheim, falls through the cracks.

Laundries are systemically important and have to open.

But there isn't much to clean up.

County - "Closed after a long illness (lockdown) after 49 years.

Until then, the patient was very healthy, ”says a large cross.

Including the current opening times of the clean land cleaning service.

It is a cry for help from Martin Graf.

The owner of the businesses in Weilheim and Murnau doesn't know what to do next.

“Many think we are closed.” His dry cleaning facilities in Weilheim and Murnau are open.

Not because he really wants it, but because he has to.

In the current lockdown, laundries are considered systemically relevant.

But they hardly have any customers.

The Oktoberfest failure was clearly felt by dry cleaners

"If no confirmations, birthdays or weddings are celebrated, nobody has to have anything cleaned," explains Graf.

But he wouldn't want to close either.

After all, he has employees who need the little money they are currently making.

In 2020 he had around 30 percent fewer parts for cleaning in his shop than in 2019. In September and October in particular, he felt that celebrations were canceled.

“Otherwise everyone would come and bring their dirndls to the Oktoberfest.

That was completely eliminated, ”explains Graf.

The home office is also bad for him.

At normal times, he has around 3,500 shirts a month to wash and iron, and since the first lockdown in the spring it has been "around 1,500 pieces - if things go well".

But currently there are fewer.

Graf cannot quantify exactly how much.

Main business has collapsed

Without the corona pandemic, he would have cleaned 1200 to 1300 items of clothing every day.

“Now we only clean twice a week.” The main business in recent years has been wedding dresses.

“Sometimes we had so much that I didn't know what to do with it,” says Graf.

Now he has almost none.

Graf has adjusted its opening times to the current situation.

During the week it is only open until 4 p.m., on Saturday until 1 p.m.

Sevinc Kayir feels the same way.

The owner of the “Blossom White” laundry in Penzberg has also adjusted its opening times.

"The main business - the laundry from hotels and restaurants - has collapsed," says Kayir.

It is a rat tail that the lockdown pulls with it.

Kayir works with Graf's clean land cleaning service.

Otherwise he would do the dry cleaning for them.

"Otherwise he went out with me with two or three big bags, now with half a bag."

Opening times significantly reduced: only open two days

“You can tell it clearly,” says Marianne Franke from the “Dufte” laundry in Penzberg.

There is still a little laundry coming from private individuals, but it is generally only a fifth of what it was before the corona pandemic and the two lockdowns.

At the moment, regular customers come to Anita Öttl in Schongau with their underwear.

Because of the home office there are hardly any shirts anymore.

That is why Öttl has drastically reduced the opening times of its “ironing and mangling room”: it is only open on Mondays and Fridays.

Or when there is a need.

"It will definitely get better," says Öttl confidently.

In the production facility of the Kasprowicz bakery in Pähl, 16 employees recently fell ill with the coronavirus.

It turned out that two of the patients were affected by a mutation.
