The 38-year-old, who was infected with the British mutation of the coronavirus, is still on the mend. As the clinic spokeswoman Pia Ott explains when asked, the patient is “only dependent on the administration of oxygen”, but is no longer ventilated. The 38-year-old, who was infected with the British mutation of the coronavirus, is still on the mend.

As the clinic spokeswoman Pia Ott explains when asked, the patient is “only dependent on the administration of oxygen”, but is no longer ventilated.

In addition, the man was transferred from the intensive care unit to a single room in the Covid isolation ward on Wednesday.

- According to Ott, no further evidence of the mutated virus could be found: "There is no other patient or employee in our clinic who has detected the British SARS-CoV-2 variant."

What unfortunately remains unanswered is the question of where the man got infected.

From the district office it says: “Unfortunately there is still no information where he could have been infected.” As reported, employees of the health department have been trying for days to get information about the background of the infection from the 38-year-old or his partner .

The health authorities have long known that the question of travel is of particular importance in containing the corona pandemic.

In Dachau, therefore, it is important to strictly follow up immigrants.

As district office spokesman Wolfgang Reichelt explains, since Christmas "around 2000 people have registered using the digital entry registration, DEA for short".

According to Reichelt, the majority came from Eastern European countries, otherwise “almost all countries are represented: Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, but also Maldives, India, USA, Canada, Mexico, Sweden and Finland”.

According to Reichelt, 25 people have entered the district since December 24 from virus variant areas - these are Great Britain, South Africa and Brazil.

The Federal Police also reported 200 cases of immigrants to the District Office "who for various reasons were unable to fill out the DEA and who were stopped at the borders during random checks," said Reichelt.

The persons registered by DEA are all "contacted by the district office and informed of their obligation to test and provide evidence as well as any obligation to quarantine".

If there is a quarantine obligation, then, according to Reichelt, "we will check compliance with this - especially for people arriving from virus variant areas - by means of calls."
