In order to compensate for lost sales, but also to bring color to these times, hairdresser Vera Scherpf is now sewing.

Pillows - and your own idea.

Poing - The door opens, Vera Scherpf smiles and greets with the words: “I'm not bored!”.

The Poinger is a master hairdresser with her own salon, like everyone in the country she has closed her business due to Corona.

Nevertheless, she is happy.

It always is.

“I'm creative, I have so much temperament,” says the native Brazilian, who has lived and worked in Poing for many years.

Her main job as a master hairdresser, she has also always been a freelance artist.

Paint large and small pictures full of life and color - now she sews.

Pillows and (your own idea) baguette bags.

Poing: Old hobby resumed

Vera Scherpf sews individual cushions and elongated bags into which a baguette fits from fabric scraps, donations and self-purchased fabrics.

Reusable and thus a small contribution towards saving packaging at the bakery.

“Each piece is unique,” says Scherpf, pointing to the pillows (she has sewn around 100 so far, many have already been sold) and bags made of cotton and linen.

With flowers, butterflies and other motifs.

Colorful and happy.

“I want to give people some color in these sad times,” she says.

As a self-employed master hairdresser, it is just as important to her: "By selling, I try to absorb the loss." The loss through the closed hairdressing salon.

Sitting around at home and doing nothing will make me crazy.

Some regular customers have offered to transfer the money they normally leave with her for haircuts just like that.

As support.

“That's very nice, but I don't want that,” says Vera Scherpf.

She prefers to be creative and sells pillows and baguette bags.

Above all, the colorful pillows are in demand, says the Poinger: "Now, in these times, many people are redecorating their apartment."

As a teenager and young adult in Brazil, she sewed a lot, she says.

She let this hobby rest for decades, now she has brought it out again - and bought a sewing machine.

“I have to do something.

Sitting around at home and doing nothing, that makes me crazy, ”says Vera Scherpf.

With a laugh, she adds: "There's not so much housework to keep busy with."
