After a first successful experience in 2019 with a Kuga running on E85 superethanol, Ford decided to go further and offer a real range of six vehicles eligible for this fuel.
It must be said that the E85 has serious arguments.
Produced from the alcoholic fermentation of sugars and starch contained in plants such as sugar beets, cereals, flexfuel is much cheaper at the pump than SP95-E10.
A liter of E85 costs on average 0.66 euro when the liter of SP95-E10 is around 1.40 euro.
Even with an excess consumption of about 20 to 25%, the E85 allows a fuel saving of nearly 40% compared to a gasoline vehicle, of the order of 15% for a diesel vehicle.
Likewise, vehicles running on this fuel benefiting from 65% to 85% incorporation of alcohol of plant origin (beetroot, cereals or their residues) benefit from attractive taxation.
The gray card is thus free in ten regions and half the price in Brittany and the Loire Valley.
Individuals benefit from an absence of malus thanks to a reduction of 40%.
As for companies, they can count on a recoverable VAT at 80% on E85 fuel, at 100% for utilities.
The six vehicles in the Ford E85 lineup cover virtually all product families.
The most accessible are the Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost with 95 hp and the Puma 1.0 Ecoboost SUV with 125 hp.
To get the maximum benefit from this technology, Ford even combines flexifuel with hybridization.
Thus the Focus 1.0 Ecoboost with light hybridization of 125 hp inherits the E85 box.
As for the Kuga, it is the HEV Hybrid version.
The corporate world has not been forgotten since Ford also offers the Fiesta Van and Transit Connect in an E85 version.
Ford announces a limited premium for this range of six E85 vehicles.
