Mario Draghi, the former head of the European Central Bank, formally accepted an offer on Wednesday to try to form a new government in Italy.
If successful, he will be Prime Minister of that country.

After meeting with President Sergio Mattarella, Draghi said he would meet with political leaders in the coming days before presenting a possible governing coalition to the Italian Parliament.
