(ANSA) - ROME, 02 FEB - Ranjitsinh Disale, winner of the Global Teacher Prize 2020, in collaboration with UNESCO, invites teachers and students from all over Italy to apply for the one million dollar Global Teacher Prize for teachers, in the seventh edition, and to the new $ 50,000 student prize, the Chegg.org Global Student Prize, launched by the Varkey Foundation.

"Both faculty and students deserve tremendous recognition for their heroism during the pandemic and for the leading role they will play in future reconstruction," he said.


    A twin of the Global Teacher Prize, the Chegg.org Global StudentPrize aims to create a powerful new platform to highlight extraordinary students from around the world who are having a major influence on the learning and lives of their peers, as well as on society as a whole.

The award is open to all students aged 16 or over who are enrolled in an academic institution or in a professional training program.

Part-time students enrolled in online courses can also participate.


   Together, the Global Teacher Prize and the Global Student Prizer will tell inspiring stories from both sides of the world of education.

The awards will highlight the great work of teachers in preparing young people for the future and the extraordinary promise represented by the brightest students for school and society at large.

   Teachers who apply for the Global Teacher Prize will be assessed on the basis of teaching practices, achievement of demonstrable learning goals, innovations to address local challenges, as well as their impact on the community even outside the classroom, on how they help children to become citizens of the world, on how they improve the profession and on the recognition of external bodies.


    Students applying for the Global Student Prize will be assessed based on their academic achievements, impact on peers, how they make a difference in their community, how they overcome difficulties to achieve goals, how they demonstrate creativity and innovation, and how they involve citizens of the world.


    Applications and nominations by Friday 30 April 2021.


    On the website www.globalteacherprize.org it is possible to apply for both the Global Teacher Prize and the Global Student Prize, on Friday 30 April 2021.


    For both awards, 50 candidates will be selected and, subsequently, the names of the 10 finalists, who contributed to increasing respect for the teaching profession and providing global recognition to the brightest students.

Among the latter, the Global Teacher PrizeAcademy, made up of prominent personalities, will choose the winners of both awards.

The winners will be announced indirectly during a special ceremony.

To nominate a teacher or student, the proposer must write a short description online to explain their choice.

The teacher or student candidate will then receive an e-mail informing him / her of the appointment and inviting him / her to apply.

Registration can be completed in English, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.
