Many parents denounce the non-replacement of teachers absent in the department. In Noisy-le-Sec, a demonstration is organized

The non-replacement of absent teachers.

This was one of the black spots highlighted in the parliamentary report denouncing, in 2018, the State's shortcomings in education in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Two and a half years later, the situation is still as critical despite the government's catching-up plan for 93, which does not provide for short-term measures to resolve this problem.

In many establishments of the department, the parents of students are mobilizing again this year to demand replacements.

This Thursday morning, parents from Jacques-Prévert college in Noisy-le-Sec are organizing a demonstration in front of the establishment.

In early January, they launched an online petition on the Change.org site to denounce the hours of lessons lost by their children, whose education has already been weakened by several months of confinement.

"A math teacher absent since November 1 has still not been replaced"

"Unreplaced absences are increasing," deplores Houda Mimouni, representative of the association of parents of FCPE students.

And they can sometimes last for several months.

Grades 3, 5 and 6 did not have technology lessons throughout the 1st term.

The professor was not replaced until January 27.

A math teacher, absent since November 1 has still not been replaced while he deals in particular with students who are preparing for their certificate.

A French teacher absent since November 16 has just been replaced, but the replacement is himself on leave.

Our children have lost dozens of hours of lessons.

"

At the Albert-Camus college in Neuilly-sur-Marne, families have also just launched a petition on the Change.org site to demand the replacement of a French teacher who has been absent since November 2020. In Villepinte too, parents mobilized to denounce absences.

At Jean-Jaurès college, the students missed several weeks of physics and chemistry lessons.

Ditto for Françoise-Dolto.

“Normally, National Education is obliged to replace teachers absent for more than 15 days, but this is not the case in reality.

Where is the equal opportunity?

We do not give our children the means to work in good conditions, ”said a mother of a student.

At La Courneuve too, unreplaced absences affected students from Raymond-Poincaré college and Jacques-Brel high school.

For its part, the rectorate of Créteil, which stresses that some of these situations have been resolved, recalls that its services are "fully mobilized" as soon as a professor is absent to find a replacement.

But admits experiencing some difficulties faced with the shortage of teachers in certain subjects under stress, which are struggling to attract candidates in Seine-Saint-Denis and elsewhere.

“This does not mean, however, that the students do not have lessons, he adds.

In some establishments, the teams manage to reorganize themselves to take charge of the classes.
