Volksfest Indersdorf: There is still hope

Realists know: The signs for the first festival in the district in May are not good.

The organizer and the host are currently consulting.

But even if there is no folk festival in May - that doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be an Indersdorfer Volksfest in 2021.

Indersdorf

- Josef Schuster junior is not the only one who wants a functioning crystal ball these days.

In times of the pandemic, planning security has become a dream.

The organizer of the Indersdorfer Volksfest now gives an overview of the current planning of the Indersdorfer Volksfest.

“So far we have planned quite normally, as if the folk festival were taking place.

So if the conditions should change, we would all be ready ”- just“ because nobody can look into the future ”.

But Schuster is also clear: "I don't see at the moment that we can really celebrate a folk festival in May."

Nevertheless, the festival organizer wants to remain optimistic.

Because if developments in the past have shown one thing: They are extremely dynamic.

"We really want to wait until the last day that is possible to cancel the festival," said Schuster.

But at some point you have to decide whether, for example, "the Kapplerbräu brewery should brew the first brew and more, or not - the time would be now, in February."

What Schuster particularly regrets: Since 2019 he has actually had a new host that he wants to present to the Indersdorfer - the entrepreneur Peter Brandl, who also hosts the tent at the Karlsfeld Settler Festival.

And although the two have never experienced a festival together, Schuster is so convinced of the previous collaboration that he extended Brandl's contract - for another two years.

"Our new festival host is so professional that I am convinced that we will experience the best celebrations with him," said the festival organizer.

But the likelihood that the Indersdorfer meet Peter Brandl during a visit to the folk festival in May is anything but high.

The new landlord sees it no differently.

"If we are realistic, we can assume that there will be no folk festival in May." Without a pandemic, the Indersdorfer Volksfest would start on May 7th.

But: “Nothing is safe,” emphasizes Josef Schuster.

Those responsible would even talk about a “Volksfest Light”.

But here Schuster makes it clear: If “Volksfest Light”, then it still has to be worthwhile for the showman and the host.

"They haven't had any income for months, so we won't have a party where they lose even more money!"

What Josef Schuster could well imagine - if all circumstances permit, of course - is an alternative date this autumn.

"Then we will celebrate our folk festival in September instead of May, for example." But there are still many uncertainties about the alternative date, quite apart from the developments in the pandemic.

Because: Showmen and festival landlords have contracts with festival organizers, "so we would have to find a date on which all of our showmen and the festival landlord have no other contractual obligations, provided that folk festivals can be held again at this point."

Mayors, clubs, many private individuals - they have all asked Josef Schuster about the festival.

Despite the uncertain situation, this is at least a small reason for Schuster to be happy: "It's nice to know that the Indersdorfer Volksfest is so important to the people that they really want to celebrate there again."

That is why Josef Schuster has a promise to the folk festival friends: “We are all ready.

And as soon as it is possible again, we will give everything to make it a very special festival! "
