Today, the US State Department expressed its concern about the campaign of arrests launched by the Turkish regime authorities and the use of unjustified violence against demonstrators of the Bosphorus University students.
"We are closely following the peaceful protests against the appointment of a new rector of the Bosphorus University and we are concerned about the arrest of students and other protesters," Reuters quoted ministry spokesman Nad Price as saying at a press conference.
The Turkish regime authorities had arrested 159 people during protests in Istanbul against the appointment of the regime's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was close to him as the new rector of the Bosphorus University.
For nearly two months, students, faculty members and academics have protested the appointment of Melih Polo, who is close to the ruling Justice and Development Party, as dean of their university, by a presidential decision, stressing that it is "an undemocratic matter."
