The Al-Maher Refresher Championship with chess, which was held by the Technical Committee for the Game under the supervision of the Executive Committee of the Sports Federation Branch, was concluded in Sweida, with the participation of 94 players from various clubs in the governorate.
Karim Henedy won first place with a score of 8.5 points, followed by Ihssan Kanaan with seven and a half points, then Adnan Hajj with seven points, and fourth, Mazen Jammoul with the same number of points, while he was late by the difference.
The female categories, Marwa Safadi, won by women, Salma Khader, in the category of under 18 years, and Hanin Abu Ras, in the category of under 14 years, while Aghid Al-Aqbani came first in the category of under 18 years, Taim Al-Shoufi in the category of under 16 years, and Nasim Al-Shoufi in the category under 14 years.
In the under-12 category, Hamza Nasr came first with 6 points, Mudhar Kahl with 5 points, and Fajr Hamed with 4.5 points.
In a statement to the representative of SANA Al-Riyadi, the head of the technical committee of chess in Swaida, Engineer Rifaat Khader, said that the tournament included six rounds for the junior category and nine rounds for adults in the Swiss league system with a time of 25 minutes and 10 seconds for each move.

Khader added that the tournament witnessed the participation of different ages from 4 to 75 years old and was held in partnership with the private sector, as the tournament hosted the Maher Institute for Languages and presented participation certificates to all players. Uday Contracting Company also provided cash prizes for the winning players, fair play, sportsmanship and distinguished young age groups.
