She was elected unanimously: Emilia Kirner is to run for the ÖDP as a direct candidate for the Bundestag.

But first it means: collect signatures.

Pfaffenhofen / Freising

- Richard Fischer, district chairman of the ÖDP Pfaffenhofen, would like to finally start the federal election campaign despite the pandemic adversities.

In the general assembly of the district associations Pfaffenhofen, Freising and parts of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on Tuesday, it was quickly clear who could represent them worthily in Berlin: 23-year-old Emilia Kirner from Freising made the running as a direct candidate for the Bundestag.

"For my age I already have a lot of ÖDP experience"

Kirner is by no means a politically unknown person in the district.

Since 2020 she has been chairman of the parliamentary group in the Freising City Council for the ÖDP, and for the young ecologists she has been the deputy federal chairman.

Kirner, who has been a member of the ÖDP since she was 17, is also actively involved in the Freising Radentscheid.

The young politician, who was born in Lower Bavaria, therefore also says: "For my age I have a lot of ÖDP experience."

She sees her election campaign focus in the areas of mobility and traffic as well as sustainability.

Because one thing is fundamental for the food chemistry student: to make the world a liveable planet for everyone and to leave it behind for future generations.

She has numerous ideas for this.

In an express meeting of just 45 minutes, Kirner was unanimously elected as a candidate by 15 voters.

Since the ÖDP is not yet represented in the Bundestag, the party will soon have to collect supporters' signatures.

Freising's district chairman criticizes Scheuer and the Greens

Despite the narrow time frame, Freising's district chairman, Ulrich Vogel, found clear words about the general political situation: In his opinion, the energy turnaround was properly “messed up” by the government parties - as was the traffic turnaround “from the barn”.

Vogel also didn’t let the Greens do their best: they would just “swallow plasticizers” for a possible black-green coalition.

His conclusion: "It makes me sick!"

Corona is currently hindering the nomination of direct candidates for the federal election on September 26th.

The first names in the Freising district are already known.
