The US House of Representatives wants to vote on a resolution on Thursday to exempt Republican MP and conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee duties.

The Democratic majority leader of the US House of Representatives, Steny Hoyer, announced this to reporters on Wednesday, as reported by the New York Times and the Reuters news agency.

Hoyer said it was clear "there is no alternative to voting on the resolution to relieve MP Greene from her committee duties."

Democrats are demanding that Greene be expelled from the Budgets Committee and the Education and Labor Committee.

House of Representatives Republican leader Kevin McCarthy criticized the Democrats' efforts.

In a statement, he did not speak of any action against Greene.

Nancy Pelosi, Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, said McCarthy had "made it clear" that he would not take any action against Greene.

Pelosi called McCarthy's behavior "a cowardly refusal to deal with Greene."

Greene supports QAnon

Greene has openly endorsed the conspiracy theories of the QAnon movement in the past.

On her Facebook page, she applauded the idea of killing high-ranking Democrats like Nancy Pelosi.

She also spread conspiracy theories about the forest fires in California.

Greene is a supporter of the former US President Donald Trump and supports his unfounded allegations of alleged election fraud.

Since Greene was elected to Congress for the state of Georgia last November, criticism of the Trump supporter has increased.

Among other things, she is said to have refused to wear mouth and nose protection.

She is also said to have insulted the Democratic MP Cori Bush.

Republicans argue over Greene

Resistance to Greene is also rising in the ranks of the Republicans.

Influential Republican minority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, recently warned, according to The Hill, that "crazy lies and conspiracy theories" are "cancerous for the Republican Party."

Greene responded on Twitter: "The real cancer for the Republican Party is weak Republicans who are only able to politely lose."

McConnell's statement reflects concerns that Greene could make it difficult for Republicans to win back Senate and House majorities from Democrats in the November 2022 congressional election.

Since Trump's electoral defeat and the subsequent loss of the Republican majority in the Senate in by-elections in early January, there has been an increasing dispute over the direction of the Republicans.

In doing so, those forces who consider a clear break with Trump to be the most promising path are rivaling those who continue to rely on the former president.
