The new signal system of the MTR East Rail Line, which was used in September last year, was first exposed by the "Wrong Route" in Hong Kong 01, which caused the train to enter the wrong line. The MTR was temporarily suspended.

Nearly 5 months after the incident, the MTR claimed to have resolved the related issues, claiming that the new system is "safe and good" and that it will be activated on Saturday (6th).

According to media reports, two days before the approval of the new system last week (January 27), a train "disappeared" from the train control center display.

The current system must be controlled by manual intervention to avoid problems such as "wrong line entry".

MTR said that according to records, the new signal system is operating normally, and the test on the 27th during the non-travel time is progressing smoothly.

MTR explained that during the test, because the new signal system was not in service, it would take a few minutes to restart the new system before each test to make preparations. During the process, the system would not display the train label, which is a normal system condition.

The report mentioned that there was a "wrong line" train problem, which was also included in the test and was not a safety issue.

MTR responded to "Hong Kong 01" inquiries and stated that according to records, the new signal system was operating normally, and the test on January 27 during non-traveling hours went smoothly, and the system's performance was also in line with expectations.

According to the "Apple Daily" report, on the 27th of last month, a train disappeared from the display of the train control center in the new system.

In order to avoid the problem of trains "wrong line", MTR also needs to be controlled manually to prevent trains from accidentally "wrong line" in racecourses, Fo Tan and other sections.

MTR stated that when the new signal system of the East Rail Line was tested on January 27, it was ready to use the new system to put into service with 9-car trains.

According to records, the new signal system is functioning normally, the test during the non-driving hours that night is progressing smoothly, and the system's performance is in line with expectations.

MTR explained that the system had not yet been put into service at that time, and it would take a few minutes to restart the new system before each non-travel time test to prepare for the test.

During the process, the system will not display the train logo, which is a normal system condition. When the train that needs to participate in the test is "set" by the system, its logo will appear on the system display, which is a known feature.

After the system is officially put into service on February 6, the new system will continue to operate, and there is no longer a need for the new system to restart preparation procedures.

The MTR continued to point out that on the test day, the MTR arranged a total of 4 trains, including 3 12-car trains and 1 9-car train, to participate in the non-travel time test on the section from Sha Tin Station to University Station.

At that time, one of the 12-car trains was used as a backup.

When the new signal system is restarted, three trains will participate in the test as planned. After the system is set, the logo of the three trains will appear on the display of the train control center, and the fourth train will be arranged in Waiting at the racecourse station.

Since this train does not need to be set by the system, it is not marked on the screen.

At that time, the conditions of all four trains were within the test expectations.

MTR said that according to records, the new signal system is operating normally, and the test on January 27 during non-traveling hours is progressing smoothly, and the system's performance is also in line with expectations.

The MTR continued that there was another train at the racecourse station.

Since the train is not a train participating in the test, it does not need to be set by the system. Therefore, the train's logo will not appear on the display of the train control center. This situation is also expected.
