From 1993 to 1998 the MessagePad was part of the Apple portfolio.
The PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) was also known as the Apple Newton and served as a digital, mobile calendar.
It already had a touch-sensitive display and handwriting recognition.

The iPad hits the market
Steve Jobs presented the first Apple
iPad
on January 27, 2010 at the annual keynote in San Francisco.
Like its successors, this was available in different versions.
Buyers could choose between three memory sizes and opt for devices with a pure WLAN connection or cellular devices that enabled mobile use of the Internet thanks to a SIM card slot.
About a year after the premiere, Apple presented the iPad 2, another year later a slightly modified version of the second generation.
