Valentine died on Friday (January 29th).

He was 77 years old.

"As a founding member of The Animals, Valentine was a guitar pioneer who influenced the sound of rock and roll for decades," the statement said.

The Animals had their greatest success with their version of the blues song "

House Of The Rising Sun

", which stormed the charts worldwide in 1964.

And which is probably one of the greatest radio hits ever.

Other well-known tracks were “Don't let me be Misunderstood” and “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place”.

Valentine was born on May 21, 1943 in North Shield, northeast England.

In 1963 he founded the band The Animals together with Eric Burdon as singer, bassist Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price and drummer John Steel.

The band split in 1966, but performed repeatedly together.

"The sudden news of Hilton's death breaks my heart," said Burdon, paying tribute to his deceased bandmate, who also gave the legendary guitar riff from "House of the Rising Sun" back, via Instagram: The opening opus of Rising Sun will never sound like this again as before, ”wrote Burdon on Instagram.

"You didn't just play it, you lived it!" He added: "Rock in Peace".
