Damascus-Sana

The Syrian General Book Authority has put in the hands of its readers a translation of a comprehensive collection of anthology of international stories by authors who represent the giants of this literary genre, whose number exceeds forty writers from many countries and different literary schools.

These stories dealt with a variety of topics and distributed between various literary styles from the gothic and the classic to the mysterious, social and to some extent terrifying. Also, these stories, some of which are almost as close as miniature cinematic films, prevailed over the element of suspense that attracts the reader without feeling bored to live the events in the lines moment by moment.

The group's stories include (A Mother's Tale) by the American critic, author and screenwriter James Ige, (Augustus) by the German poet and novelist and Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse, (Footprints on the Snow) by the Italian novelist and novelist Mario Soldatti and (the anatomist) by the French poet and novelist Petros Borrell and (The Bamboo Trap) by Irish writer Robert S. Lemon and others.

The full translation of these international anthologies of stories from English and from several languages into Arabic was provided by the Syrian translator, Farid Iskandar, a graduate of Damascus University, Department of English Language, in an interesting narrative style that is not without the pleasure of the reader, and he is interested in translating the short story in particular and publishing it in Syrian and Arab periodicals. He has also published a number of translated works. .

The collection is located on 592 pages of large pieces and was included in the Global Story category of the National Translation Project issued by the Commission.
