Her post garnered over 1,500 comments in a matter of hours, and many said they made the same mistake - and not just with a microwave.
One wrote: "I was recently sitting in the back seat of our car and realized that the DVD players there still have their protective plastic. I never sit in the back so I never noticed and the kids never complained."
Another added: "I found mine after three years. I was going to get mad at the kids because the buttons were dirty and after wiping them it looked like the power button was melting."
The British SUN reported that an employee at an appliance store who also wrote a comment found that many customers make the same mistake and try to return items where they claim "the plastic was destroyed" - only to find out the leak.
